T-shirts, also known as T-shirts (T-shirts) and T-shirts, are one of the most popular clothes in spring and summer, especially in the hot summer when the sun is scorching and the heat is unbearable. T-shirts, with their natural, comfortable, chic and solemn advantages, have gradually replaced the old mode of men wearing a vest or sweatshirt plus a short-sleeved shirt or Hong Kong shirt in social occasions, and have become seasonal clothing that people are happy to wear. It has become a fashionable dress that men, women, old and young love to wear all over the world. It is said that the annual sales volume in the world has reached billions of pieces, and it constitutes the most popular and most worn clothing in the world with jeans.
Common fabrics
Polyester-cotton
Cotton + polyester refers to the general term for blended fabrics of polyester and cotton. There are generally two classification methods: blending and interweaving. The advantage is good wrinkle resistance and not easy to deform; the disadvantage is easy to pilling, plus two dyeing, the fabric feels hard. It feels soft and thick, and is not easy to deform after washing, but the comfort of clothing is slightly worse than pure cotton. 65% cotton T-shirt fabric is OK, but 35% cotton is worse, very uncomfortable to wear, and easy to pilling.
100% cotton
This is a more commonly used T-shirt fabric, with a high cost performance. Although it is not like other high-end T-shirt fabrics, it has been processed by special processes, but 100% cotton still maintains the superior natural characteristics of pure cotton, good skin-friendliness, good breathability, and good moisture absorption. If the budget is not large and you want to wear comfortably, this one is a good choice. Of course, some 100% cotton that has been processed by special processes such as hair removal and softening is also a high-end fabric.
Cotton + Lycra (high-quality spandex) is also called Lycra cotton
It has drape and crease recovery ability. This is an elastic cotton fabric with spandex implanted during the weaving process. It feels good, fits well, highlights the figure, is elastic, and is especially suitable for close-fitting clothing. It has been used on men’s T-shirts in the past two years. Generally, when making T-shirt fabrics, fabrics with spandex can only be treated with light alkali and low-temperature mercerization. This kind of fabric is more suitable for T-shirts with close-fitting fashion style, and the skinny feeling will be worse. It is especially important to note that this fabric should be treated to prevent shrinkage.
Mercerized cotton
Mercerized cotton fabric is made of cotton as raw material, which is made into high-weaving yarn through fine spinning. After special processing steps such as singeing and mercerizing, it is made into high-quality mercerized yarn that is smooth, bright, soft and wrinkle-resistant. The high-quality T-shirt fabric made of this raw material not only completely preserves the excellent natural properties of the original cotton, but also has a silk-like luster. The fabric feels soft, is moisture-absorbent and breathable, and has good elasticity and drape. In addition, the colors are rich, and the clothes are comfortable and casual, which fully reflects the temperament and taste of the wearer. Mercerized cotton and double mercerized cotton fabrics are delicate, and they are different from ordinary clothing in workmanship and printing and embroidery. It is recommended to find a manufacturer that focuses on high-end T-shirts, who are more experienced.
Double mercerized cotton
Using mercerized yarn made by singeing and mercerizing as raw material, pure cotton double mercerized fabric is a pure cotton product of “double burning double silk”. Using CAD computer-aided design system and CAM computer-aided production system, the designed pattern T-shirt fabric is quickly woven. After the grey fabric is singed and mercerized again, a series of finishing is carried out to produce this high-end T-shirt fabric. The fabric has clear texture, novel pattern, bright luster, and smooth feel. It is better than mercerized cotton, but the price is slightly higher because it needs to be mercerized twice.
Pure cotton fabric
1. Characteristics: It is a hydrophilic fiber with strong water absorption and quick drying. It is a medium-strength fiber with a tensile strength of 3.5~4.0g/d, but it will increase its strength by 10% when wet, making it a washable fiber. It has good thermal and electrical conductivity and does not cause static electricity.
2. Advantages: (a) Sweat absorption and heat dissipation, low unit price; (b) Good thermal and electrical conductivity, no static electricity; (c) Afraid of acid or alkali, it can withstand cleaning with strong detergents.
3. Disadvantages: (a) Poor stretch elasticity and easy to wrinkle; (b) Shrinkage occurs when exposed to water in the initial stage. After washing, the whole garment will be wrinkled, and the size will shrink or become larger; (c) Susceptible to mildew and moth damage; (d) Sweat acid will damage cotton, reduce its strength, and easily turn yellow.
CVC
1. Characteristics: 70% cotton and 30% man-made fiber blended.
2. Advantages: Has the sweat absorption effect of cotton and the appearance of man-made fiber.
3. Disadvantages: Poor touch.
TC (TC terylene, stretch nylon)
1. Material: Polyester fiber POLYESTER.
2. Advantages: Good texture and resistance to sunlight, not easy to deform when washed in water, good anti-friction.
3. Disadvantages: Will generate static electricity and pilling, does not absorb sweat.
Nylon (Nylon)
1. Characteristics: excellent durability, high strength, high friction resistance.
2. Advantages: smooth surface, high gloss and soft. Excellent resistance to alkali and chlorine bleach, but strong acid will damage nylon. Easy to wash and dry, not easy to wrinkle. Not afraid of moths and mildew.
3. Disadvantages: does not absorb water, prone to static electricity. Very poor resistance to sunlight.
Lycra
That is nylon, spandex. Lycra, to put it bluntly, is just rubber bands added to the fabric to make the fabric elastic. Many cotton fabrics are added with 5%~10% Lycra, that is, spandex. Such fabrics have a certain degree of elasticity, and clothes can be cut to fit better, but there is no sense of restraint, and they are more comfortable to wear. Elastic fiber is not a fabric, but a component of the fabric.
